Newark Valley Summerfest and Duck Race

As the sun dipped below the horizon on July 29, Newark Valley bid farewell to another spectacular edition of its annual Summerfest and Duck Race. The community came together for a day brimming with laughter, entertainment, and the joyous spirit of summer, making it a memorable event for attendees of all ages.

A Day of Festivities Unfolds

The festivities commenced at 9 a.m., unfolding throughout the day and culminating in a dazzling fireworks display at dusk. The heart of the celebration was at Trout Ponds, where the lively atmosphere captivated everyone in attendance.

The day kicked off with a vibrant parade at 10 a.m., featuring an array of floats, performers, and community groups. Following the parade, Trout Ponds Park transformed into a bustling hub of activity. Children reveled in a play area filled with games and activities, while vendors, crafters, and artisans showcased their talents. The air was filled with the enticing aromas of diverse food and snack booths, catering to every taste.

Quack-tastic Highlights: The Great Duck Race

One of the most anticipated events was the Great Duck Race, setting sail at 4:30 p.m. Duck enthusiasts had the chance to adopt ducks for a shot at winning monetary prizes. The excitement reached its peak as the rubber ducks raced towards the finish line. Those who adopted more ducks increased their odds of clinching victory. It was a quack-tastic spectacle that added a layer of friendly competition and thrill to the festivities.

For those eager to participate, ducks could be adopted or “Quacker Packs” purchased at Lambert’s Attic or Village Wine and Spirits. The race brought the community together for a shared experience of fun and anticipation.

Diverse Vendors and Crafters

No Summerfest would be complete without the diverse array of vendors and crafters that lined the park, offering unique and handmade goods. From woodcrafts to essential oils, financial coaching to delicious sauces, attendees had the opportunity to explore a wide range of products. Featured vendors included JL Woodcrafts, Tastefully Simple, Mojo’s Sauce LLC, and many others. The Chamber of Commerce Tent provided a central location for registering as a vendor and obtaining Duck Race Tickets.

Culinary Delights Awaited Food Enthusiasts

The Newark Valley Summerfest showcased a delectable array of treats to satisfy every palate. From Gramps Funnel Cakes & Fried Dough to Country Boys Kitchen, Richford Hill Winery, Lambert’s Snack Shack, The Scoop Shack, and Smokey Legend BBQ, LLC, the festival offered a paradise for food enthusiasts. Attendees could indulge in sweet and savory delights, adding to the overall sensory experience of the day.
